Parmelee Beagles

Two weeks old, eyes opening!

Our little monsters continue to grow and over the last two days their little eyes are opening. They can’t quite focus yet but things are about to get really active around here! For those who aren’t aware of it, puppies are born with both their eyes and ears still sealed shut. Eyes start opening (for beagles anyway) around 2 weeks old and ears a few days later. First teeth start coming in when they are just over 3 weeks old, that’s when Shelby is very happy to have them start eating solid food. We let Shelby wean the puppies naturally.

Today was the 2 week weighing and everyone is doing really well and all the pups and Shelby got their first de-worming dose of Nemex-2 this morning. Now that eyes are open, ears are next…Then it gets loud! We will probably expand their PuppyDen to the PuppyPen in a couple more days. We like to make sure they can get back in to the Den before giving them too much more space, especially since our nights are pretty darn cold this week.
